KHAKI ALERT
Willing soldiers develop unwelcome symptoms
Several returned Iraqi liberators have been found to be showing
symptoms of a disease bearing the hallmarks of a mild dose of the
deadly SARS virus. A number of the returned Iraqi Freedom soldiers
in the US, the UK and Australia have been confined to bed and there
are investigations being made about whether to quarantine them.
The symptoms are markedly different from
those exhibited by soldiers from the first Gulf War who complained
of so-called "Gulf
War Syndrome". However, it is possible that they may be due
to a common cause - pre-war innoculations. A spokesfolk for NHIV,
the organisation investigating the cause and nature of the disease,
stated that "the different symptoms may be due to different
innoculations this time around. It was said that the soldiers were
going to be given Anthrax vaccine. It's possible that they may
have been given a small dose of SARS as a preventitive measure
as well."
When the point was made that SARS only came to the world's attention
after the troops were deployed in the Gulf, the Press Conference
was abruptly cancelled. The reporter in question has since been fired for unrelated reasons. |
